Cardinals ink Draft pick Blair to contract
Seth Blair, the Cardinals' second pick in last month's Draft, has agreed to terms. Blair was at Busch Stadium on Friday and the Cards formally announced the signing shortly before opening a set with the Pirates.
La Russa observing, but no deal imminent
Tony La Russa is following the Cardinals' efforts over the next 18 hours or so with interest, but he said Friday that he doesn't know of anything imminent for the Cardinals before the non-waiver Trade Deadline.
Freese aims to start rehab as soon as Sunday
Third baseman David Freese is making excellent progress in his return from two injuries and hopes to go on a Minor League rehabilitation assignment as soon as Sunday.
Bats come up empty against Dickey
